1:05-1:35 PM Eastern

After an eventful first half of 2020, what’s next for the US economy? In this session, we will explore current and future trends in employment, spending and investment. We’ll consider the political environment and identify the key drivers of construction activity in 2021 and beyond.

1:35-3:00 PM Eastern

Recessions come and go, but this one was different. The COVID-19 pandemic created one of the most severe recessions in U.S. history causing immense disruption across every industry. The construction industry has seen its share of difficulty, but the recovery is underway. In this session Richard Branch, Chief Economist for Dodge Data & Analytics will provide answers to these questions and more:

  • Will projects in a post-COVID world take longer than normal to break ground?
  • How will structural changes such as work from home and remote schooling impact the demand for buildings?
  • What role will the election results play in future construction?

Richard will also walk you through the construction starts forecast and outline the risks and opportunities facing our industry in the year ahead. He will discuss:

  • Where we are today. A Review of the Current Market Situation
  • The view from 30,000 feet. Macroeconomic Overview
  • Dive into the outlook for key sectors: residential, commercial, manufacturing, institutional, nonbuilding
Q&A: Following his presentation, Richard will respond to questions submitted by viewers.
